I normally prefer Winchester primers for all my large rifle/large pistol needs. I used to use more CCI but switched over about 15 years ago to Winchester, about the only time I use CCI now days is the CCI #41 for 5.56 loading. But you had asked about CCI's so I mentioned the 200's and 250's.

Only slam fires I've ever seen were new brass colored WWSR and Federal primers in the AR15 platform. Nothing against either primer, but soft is not, IMHO, safe in a floating pin gun like the AR. That said testing primers can show you a lot with different powders and loads. Opened my eyes MANY years ago. 93 pieces of .223 / 5.56 primer tested brass for reloading ammunition. These have never had powder nor bullets seated. The headstamp says: WINCHESTER 223 RE Federal American Eagle 5.56 This AR-15 5.56mm round also features brand new, never fired virgin brass casings that can be reloaded for those shooters that reload their 5.56mm ammo, a non corrosive primer and it is new production ammo.

Over 10,000 rounds of 223/5.56 rounds loaded and fired, 9,000 of those were Winchester small rifle and only 1,000 CCI small rifle when I couldn't get the Winchester, no problems of any kind, never had a slam fire or pierced primer.
